Kent Connects

Services

Public sector working together to deliver better services

Our services

We have developed a range of services for partners which improve productivity and reduce costs. Most are covered by the membership subscription, some such as training and student placements are discounted services. These are some key Kent Connects services.

The Kent Public Service Network is a regional Public Services Network (PSN) providing high quality connectivity to all areas of Kent and Medway.

It is a not-for-profit partnership governed by 24+ partner organisations including Kent County Council, Medway Council as well as numerous Borough and District Councils, and health organisations across Kent.

The Kent Connects Partnership and the KPSN Partnership work closely together on partnership services, workshops and events.

Govroam enables roaming Wi-Fi services for Public Sector staff across 17 organisations. Universities use EduRoam Wi-Fi and there is a reciprocal arrangement with the partners to provide Govroam on university campuses and Eduroam in public sector buildings.

The Kent IT Alliance (KITA) is an informal partnership between Kent Connects, Canterbury Christchurch University, The University of Greenwich and The University of Kent. They work together to support Digital Accessibility and knowledge sharing across IT and Digital Services. Kent Connects works with the universities to support placement opportunities, in particular the Year in Industry placements. Further information is available in the Student section.

To discuss other placement options, please contact the Partnership Office at: enquire.kentconnects@kent.gov.uk.

Providing partners and other public sector organisations an opportunity to collaborate, share knowledge and exchange innovative practices for the benefit of Partner compliance to the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No.2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 and other relevant legislation.

The Group meets on a quarterly basis and is working in partnership to bring common standards, vocabulary and understanding across their respective organisations.

Kent Connects has developed a number of e-learning courses which are available to all partners. The e-learning courses include GDPR, operational security, information governance and phishing attacks.

We have developed a brand new e-learning course with Smarter Digital Services: An Introduction to Digital Accessibility. This course explains why it is so important for your customers and you as an organisation. There are also practical demonstrations of how to create accessible documents in Word.

We organise locally run training courses for partners which reduce the cost of training by booking for a group rather than individuals. In the past we have provided workshops on topics such as Cyber Security, Agile and  Digital Bootcamp. We run an annual training session for Senior Information Risk Owners (SIRO) delivered by industry experts.

The GIS group allows GIS team members from our partner organisations to meet quarterly to see presentations on relevant topics and share knowledge and best practice.

The Information Security Group brings together the IT security experts from each organisation to see presentations on relevant topics and share knowledge and best practice.

This group was formed after the Smart Cities business transformation event and looks for opportunities for the partners to work together to resolve common challenges through technology and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

The Kent Connects Leadership Group meets quarterly to set the strategic direction and identify the focus for the partnership activities, projects and events.

Do you have a transformation project in mind?

We are always looking for new ways to work together as a partnership. If you want to discuss a new project, service or event, please let us know.
