Current Student Experiences

I am currently on doing a placement with Kent Connects with my Computer Science degree at the University of Kent. I mainly help the Kent Connects team to organise events and general IT support.

My role is to support the Kent Connects team with partnerships work with the other councils and I have also worked on some Power BI to generate data behind the previous Summer of Accessibility webinars in order to improve them for this year. I also help the Kent Connects team to deliver important events such as the Reconnects Day, where we had speakers talk about IoT, Ai and ethics and GIS, as well as a cyber escape room to show the importance of security online. I also maintain the Kent Connects website and make sure it is up to date with our current events. Additionally, I support the Geographic Information Systems team, and I am learning a lot about the technical side of data mappings and will do some project management in the near future.

This placement enabled me to expand my network as well as my communication and organisation skills through the various tasks that I do. One thing that I really like about this placement is not only I get to know about more technical and communication skills but I also get to participate in meaningful projects.
