As part of the KITA initiative, Kent Connects provides placement opportunities each year to students from the Universities of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church and Greenwich. This section contains information for any current placement opportunities including job descriptions, application forms etc. Also to give users a flavour of what previous placement students were involved in during their time with Kent Connects this section also contains overviews of previous students experiences.

GBC Digital Support Officer 2016/17

 James James Bridges- University of Kent
In my role at Gravesham Borough Council I am heavily involved with the transition from paper application forms to online forms. These forms need to gather the same information as their paper counterparts, yet have a much better user journey. This can be achieved by displaying different questions at different times depending on the customer’s progress and their previous answers. The aim is to have all of the necessary information gathered through these online forms and then formatted into a formal headed document. Read More ->

Medway Digital Transformation Service Designer 2016/17

In my role I look at an existing transaction or process e.g. book a pest control visit and identify the user needs and service requirements. I look at the issues and blockers of the current process and from this I devise a new service offering which is more streamlined and efficient. Read More ->

Tonbridge and Malling Digital Developer 2016/17

I work for Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council in their IT services department as a Digital Developer. One of the projects I am currently working on is redesigning and building a new Intranet so that all staff members have access to up to date information and the latest version of a form which is part of another project that I am working on, converting internal paper forms to forms that can be accessed and filled out all online via the intranet. Read More ->

Digital Developer 2015/16

I am working with the Tonbridge & Malling digital team to make their public facing website more user friendly. Part of my job is to collect and approve content that is submitted by various different departments in the Council and then I add it to the live web pages.

PSICT Action Plan Support Officer 2013/14

David Avery was the PSICT Action Plan Support officer for 2013-14 and was the first to define the role. David was involved with a number of Kent Connects projects including the early stages of DRBaaS and the Tunbridge Wells Transformed by you.
